WHAT IS CLINICAL HYPNOSIS?
The word Hypnosis may conjure up an image of the guy on stage at the Calgary Stampede who was told to squawk and strut like a chicken. Hilarious to watch perhaps, but stage hypnotism has very little to do with what you will experience in Hypnotherapy with a Registered Psychologist.
Hypnosis is really just a state of highly focused and directed attention that you will enjoy while being very relaxed. While under hypnosis, or in a hypnotic trance, you may be much more receptive to positive suggestions. The Magic of Hypnosis is that these suggestions reach a deeper part of your brain where they can plant themselves, take root and grow. When you can use your whole brain – both your conscious thoughts and unconscious intent – You Empower Yourself to Reach your Goals more Quickly and Easily.
But will you make me squawk like a chicken?
Only if you want to! All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis. That means that you will always be totally in control of yourself and will never do or believe anything that you would normally find objectionable. The positive suggestions will be completely in line with the intentions that you have for yourself. They may be worded differently, or sound more symbolic and metaphorical than your day to day language, but that is How Hypnosis Works!
